Explore the USS Orville deck by deck
The Orville - Interactive Fan Experience is a casual simulation built around the USS Orville (ECV-197), the Planetary Union's mid-level exploratory class cruiser. Every room on every deck is recreated, and you are free to wander at your own pace in either first or third person. There is no fixed objective holding you to a path, so the ship itself is the content: the Mess Hall windows look out on the Planetary Union Dockyard in Earth orbit, the Shuttle Bay holds a shuttle you can take for a joyride, and the E-Sim is there if you want to go bowling. Matter synthesizers let you produce nick-knacks, pick them up, and place them wherever you like, including a spruce-up of Bortus and Clyden's quarters. You can also customize your own quarters and upload them to the Steam Workshop.
Play with friends in multiplayer
Multiplayer is where the shenanigans start. A few friends can explore the ship together, or you can pick up a Longbow and test your marksmanship on them. Alert modes change the ambiance throughout the ship, so the group can set the mood, whether that means a red alert scramble or a Moclan-style party. Text and voice chat are built in for multiplayer sessions. If you want something beyond walking around, sit at the helm and take the ship for a spin, or head to the Unknown Sector and fight Kaylon ships. Character customization means everyone shows up looking like themselves, or like whoever they want to be.
Before you start
This is Early Access, so features may change as development continues. The game is free to play and includes online PvP. The score is original, with undertones and themes from the show, composed by Patrick Phillips. There is a Bortus "special" program to find if you can locate it, and a 6DOF flight model for the ship and shuttle segments. Expect a sandbox built for wandering and messing around with friends rather than a structured campaign.
