What The Crackpet Show is

The Crackpet Show is a rogue-lite twin-stick shooter where mutated animals fight on a bizarre TV show. You pick a beastie, load up on weapons and perks, and fight through rooms full of enemies toward big bosses. Runs are built from randomized map layouts, weapon drops and perk choices, so no two episodes come out the same. Between runs, the likes you earn from the audience become a currency you spend on upgrading items and perks, which makes the next attempt hit harder. Expect a lot of bullets on screen: the game leans into bullet-hell fights, dozens of weapons and perks that stack on each other, so a run can end with molten lava on the floor, bouncing bullets and a berserk character. Death is common and part of the loop — you come back stronger.

Playing it with friends

The game supports co-op for up to four players, and Steam lists Remote Play Together, so friends who do not own it can join over a remote session. Two ways to play together: coordinate properly, or sabotage each other. Perks and power-ups can be stolen from teammates, and the game treats that as a legitimate strategy. The stated goal is fun and fame rather than careful number-crunching, so a group can either build a combined strategy or just fight over loot while clearing rooms. It also works solo if the group is not around.

Before you start

The Steam tags include Difficult, and the store text is blunt about bosses that can turn your insides out, so expect to die repeatedly and to learn enemy patterns over many runs. Progress comes from the upgrade system rather than from a single successful attempt. The tone is old-school gore cartoon: cute, colorful characters in a violent show, with dark humor throughout. Controller support is listed among the tags, which suits a twin-stick shooter. Genre-wise it mixes action roguelike, dungeon crawler and shoot 'em up, so runs are short, repeatable and built around picking perks that combine well.
