A dungeon shooter that rerolls every run

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is a 2D action RPG shooter with heavy roguelike elements. Isaac runs through a randomly generated basement full of deranged enemies, bosses and secrets, picking up bizarre treasures that change his form and give him superhuman abilities. Each run hands you a different mix of items, so no two playthroughs line up the same way. Rooms fill with hazards and enemies, and the item pool is huge: over 450 items, with 160 unlockables, plus 24 playable characters tied to unlocks and 100+ enemies and 50+ bosses to learn. Along the way you find upgradeable shops, mystic runes, and secrets tucked behind breakable walls and odd interactions.

Runs also come with seeds, and the game ships with over 100 specialized seeds alongside four billion generated ones, plus 20 challenge runs when you want a fixed twist instead of a standard run.

Playing it with friends

Local co-op supports two players sharing a screen. Player two drops in as one of over 100 co-op characters, so the second player is a real character in the run rather than a spectator. Because the layout changes every run, you are figuring out the room together on the fly: who focuses which enemy, when to spend in the shop, which treasure to take.

The game also supports Remote Play Together, so a friend can join over a connection while you keep playing locally on your side. Both are tied to the same shared screen, so plan on being in the same room or on a call.

Before you start

Expect the game to punish you early. Enemies hit hard, resources are scarce, and death sends you back to the start of a fresh run rather than a checkpoint. That is the loop: learn enemy patterns, learn what items do, and go a little deeper next time. Progress comes from unlocks and achievements rather than persistent upgrades.

Runs take as long as you want them to, so it works for a quick half hour or a long session. Controller support is integrated with analog movement, and the game runs at 60FPS with cloud saves and multiple save slots, so you can keep separate progression for different players or experiment freely.
