A hunter in a Gothic maze

Tearscape is a 2D top-down action-adventure with pixel art in the spirit of Game Boy Color classics. You play a hunter moving through a dark, interconnected world full of dungeons, grotesque monsters, and bosses born from dark experiments. Combat is precise and demanding: every strike and dodge matters, stamina has to be managed, and healing flasks are limited, so healing decisions carry real weight. Between fights you upgrade your character's stats to stay effective as enemies get tougher. The world itself is non-linear, with branching paths, hidden shortcuts, secret areas, and undiscovered dungeons tucked away across the map.

Unlocking your way forward

New tools and abilities are hidden inside the dungeons, and they change both how you fight and where you can go. Some enemies and paths only open up once you have the right ability, so backtracking through earlier areas often reveals shortcuts and secrets you walked past the first time. NPCs scattered through the world give guidance, ask for help, or push their own agendas, and each conversation adds a layer to the story. Boss fights are the real test — massive creatures that demand timing, strategy, and a solid grip on the abilities you have collected so far.

Playing together

Tearscape is listed as a singleplayer experience, but it supports Remote Play Together, which lets friends in your group join your session remotely through Steam while you drive the game. One person owns and runs the game, and the others come along for the session. Tags on the store page include local co-op, so check with whoever is hosting what actually works in your setup before everyone commits to an evening.

Before you start

Go in expecting a challenge: precise combat, finite healing, and bosses that punish sloppy timing are the core of the experience. The map does not hold your hand, so a good chunk of the game is exploring, finding hidden dungeons, and figuring out which ability opens which path. Patience and backtracking are part of the loop rather than a detour from it.
