A Hand-Drawn Metroidvania with Eldritch Horror
Sundered is a 2D action-adventure where you play as Eshe, a wanderer trapped in a ruined world. The game combines classic Metroidvania elements like backtracking, secrets, and unlocking new abilities with a chaotic, hand-drawn art style inspired by H.P. Lovecraft. You will explore an ever-changing dungeon at the heart of a beautiful world, fighting through hordes of terrifying enemies. The core choice in the game is whether to resist or embrace ancient eldritch powers, harnessing corrupted relics to defeat gigantic bosses at the cost of your humanity.
Local Co-op for Up to Four Players
The Eldritch Edition adds local co-op support for up to 4 players, making it possible to tackle the dangerous caverns together. This mode is designed for groups sitting around the same screen, combining your efforts against the dynamically spawned hordes of monsters. The update also introduces several unique new areas to the map. You can complete a quest chain of special challenges in these new areas to unlock rewards and the path to a brand new boss, the Magnate of the Gong.
What to Know Before Starting
Be prepared for a challenging experience designed for seasoned gamers. Frequent deaths are part of the Sundered experience, but they are not the end. When you die, you respawn in the Hub, where you level up and customize your character. This is where you equip and upgrade a host of unique Perks, stats, and special Abilities hidden throughout the world. The game features hundreds of upgrades and multiple character builds, alongside a mix of hand-crafted and procedural levels that keep every run fresh.
