Arcade baseball with real fundamentals
Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings is an arcade baseball simulator from Metalhead Software Inc. that pairs a light-hearted, comical presentation with genuine baseball rules and physics. The controls are tight and the learning curve is smooth, so you can pick it up quickly, but there is plenty to master underneath: jumping, diving, wall-catches, power-swings and cut-off plays all matter when you are trying to dominate friends. Full batting and pitching statistics are tracked, so you can back up your MVP-quality skills with actual numbers.
Playing together on the couch
The game supports up to four players locally, with modes covering head-to-head, 2v1, 2v2 and co-op against the CPU. In co-op, teammates alternate batting and running each time at-bat, then alternate pitching and fielding each inning, so everyone stays involved on every play. Remote Play Together is also available, letting friends join in over a remote session.
The Ego system keeps it fair
The Ego system is a fine-grained, per-user difficulty control that levels the playing field in both cooperative and competitive modes. Seasoned players can push themselves to their limits while beginners get a gentle introduction, and you can set up a competitive game between friends of any skill level. Short load times and a streamlined interface keep the action flowing, with nine-inning games taking around 20 minutes.
Building your squad
Players tally Starpoints for hits, strikeouts and catches during each game and level up once they collect enough points. You can hire staff to train and coach your squad, improving skill attributes such as Power and Speed, then take that improved team into higher difficulties. Player customization lets you adjust the look and names of your team's players to create a ragtag crew of family and friends, with as many aesthetic adjustments as you can imagine.
