What Yerr Out is

Yerr Out is a cartoon-style baseball game from Green Valley Games where animals take the field. You build a team from a roster of animals and each one carries its own numbers in STRENGTH, SPEED, AGILITY and TECHNIQUE, so picking a lineup is a real decision rather than a cosmetic one. The game ships with 11 fields to play on, over 130 animals to unlock, plus minigames, practice modes and a story mode.

The rules are trimmed down for pace: no foul balls and no tagging up. The ball is put in play and you deal with what happens, which pushes the action toward aggressive baserunning, slick fielding and repeated pitcher vs batter duels. Controls are responsive and easy to learn, and you can crush hits into the gap, throw curveballs, make diving plays in the outfield and slide to break up close plays.

Playing with your group

Yerr Out supports Online Co-op and Online PvP, so your group can either team up or face off across the diamond. Because characters are class-based in their attributes, a group that talks through its animal picks before a match will get more out of the lineup than one that grabs favorites at random. Matches reward coordination: who pitches, who covers the gap, and when to send a runner are all calls your group can make together.

There is also a singleplayer side to the game, with story mode, minigames and practice modes to run through on your own when nobody else is online. Practice mode is the sensible place to get comfortable with the pitching and hitting timing before jumping into competitive play.

Before you start

A controller is highly recommended, and the store notes it plainly. The controls are simple to pick up, but the timing-heavy pitching and batting will feel better on a pad than on a keyboard.

Expect a light, goofy tone rather than a simulation: the animals, the fields and the stripped-down rules all point at quick, funny rounds. The soundtrack comes from Derek & Brandon Fiechter's album Africa, with sound bites from DGreen and Casey. Expect unlocks to be a steady part of the loop, since the animal roster is large and each new animal changes what your team can do.
