What Super Cable Boy is
Super Cable Boy is a retro-inspired 2D precision platformer where you play as a living handheld gaming system with a power cord. You are super, you have a cable, and you are a boy. The cord is not just decoration: you throw your plug like a grappling hook, and swinging around it can leave you dizzy. Along the way you collect game cartridges that make you more powerful, and you collect onigiris because they look delicious.
The goal is to take on "the Glitch", a mysterious entity that threatens to destroy the world. The store text describes it only as a scrambled string of symbols, which fits the mind-bending, glitchy tone the game goes for. Expect alternative dimensions you can fly around in, jumps and dashes, and a weird story wrapped in colorful pixel graphics. The game leans into choices that matter and multiple endings, so how you play shapes where the story ends up.
Playing it together
The game is tagged as singleplayer, but it also carries local multiplayer, split screen, local co-op and co-op tags, plus Steam's Remote Play Together feature. That means a group can sit on the same screen or join over a remote session and run through the platforming together. Remote Play Together lets friends who own the game join your session, so one person can host and the rest come along.
Since it is a precision platformer with dashes, grappling and dizzying movement, playing together is mostly about sharing the run rather than splitting the screen into separate goals. The co-op tags point at shared play, not a competitive mode.
Before you start
Go in expecting a retro, atmospheric and experimental feel: pixel graphics, glitchy visuals, a strange story, and platforming that asks for precise timing. The cable mechanic is central, so getting comfortable with throwing the plug and swinging is the first thing to learn. Choices matter and there are multiple endings, so a single run will not show you everything.
It is tagged as cute and colorful, but the difficulty sits in the platforming itself rather than in combat spectacle. Give yourself time to get used to the dash and the cord before judging how far you can get.
