What Suika Shapes is

Suika Shapes is an action puzzle game where you drop shapes into a box and merge two shapes of the same color to make a bigger one. The goal is to keep merging up to a watermelon while your space slowly fills up. Shapes can be rotated before you place them, so each drop is a small decision about where it fits and what it sets up next. The game is based on the watermelon game スイカゲーム.

There are 7 gamemodes to pick from. Normal is the classic mode where you aim to merge all the way to a watermelon, and merging two watermelons is possible but very hard. Speed mode raises the floor faster every minute, so you have to match quickly or run out of room. Transformation gives each color a fixed shape that stays the same, and you work up to a round watermelon. Evolution starts you with smaller shapes, and every double watermelon clear makes the shapes grow a little, which suits longer sessions. Wheel puts a large wheel in the center that changes direction when a shape lands. Pins has pins that pop out and alternate as you drop. Balance is a stage that tilts with weight and has no walls, so shapes can fall off and too many losses end the run.

Playing with friends

You can play online or offline. Co-op mode lets you team up with a friend and work through the puzzle together. The online versus mode is the competitive side: chain combos to shrink your opponent's box and outscore them. Remote Play Together is available, so one person can host and others join in.

On top of the base modes there are 7 modifiers to change how a round feels. Swap lets you trade the current shape with the one in Next. Slippery makes every shape slide. Charge lets you build up and fire a shape with extra force. Low gravity reduces gravity. Bouncy makes shapes bounce. Instant Drop removes the drop cooldown and places shapes at the bottom right away. Alternate physics switches to a different, more dynamic physics engine. Any shape, gamemode, and modifier can be mixed together, so you can set up a specific challenge and send it to your friends to beat.

Before you start

There are 25+ unique shapes, and each one has its own leaderboard. The game has over 2000 leaderboards across modes, so you can specialize in one mode and chase a score, or hand a target to a friend. Space is the resource that runs out, so the pressure comes from planning merges before the box fills. The modifier list changes that pressure directly: Slippery and Bouncy alter how shapes settle, Instant Drop and Charge change the pace of placing them, and Balance removes walls entirely. Pick a mode and modifier that match the kind of session you want, then compare scores.
