What Star Drift Evolution Is

Star Drift Evolution is a minimalistic arcade racer built around one core skill: powersliding. The driving physics have a real sense of weight, so you throw the car into twisty corners and let it slide through. You never need to brake — staying on the throttle and carrying speed through the drift is the fastest way around. The controls are simple and the interface stays out of the way, so you can get racing quickly, but the handling itself is demanding and takes real practice to master.

There is a lot to work through. The game includes 75 tracks, ranging from simple dirt ovals to tough point-to-point routes, and over 50 cars with different stats like top speed, acceleration, grip and downforce. Picking the right car for the right track matters as much as your driving. The Single Player Career contains 450 Star Challenges to clear against the AI. A ghost replay system runs automatically, showing you the replay of the next player above you on the leaderboard so you always have a target to chase.

Playing Together

Your group has two main ways to race each other. Online multiplayer works Trackmania-style: everyone drives their own line with no car collisions, so each player can focus on perfecting their run rather than fighting for position. Up to 20 players can take part. Remote Play Together is also supported, letting friends join in over a connection.

On one screen, up to 4 players can race in split screen. You can also tackle the Career's Star Challenges together in co-op, working through the same challenges as a group instead of solo.

Before You Start

Decide on your camera early: the game offers classic top-down views and arcade chase cams, and you can customize your own setup. Full controller support is included with remappable buttons in-game. Wheel support has been reported working after manually mapping the buttons, but it is not guaranteed for every wheel. The soundtrack carries over 25 retro and synthwave tracks to race to.
