What First Racer is
First Racer is an arcade racing game where you pick a car, tune it, and take it out on tracks and city streets. The handling leans toward arcade rather than simulation, so the focus is on quick reactions, clean overtakes, and holding your line through corners. Races run at high speed and the tracks each have their own layout and quirks, so learning where to brake and where to push pays off. You start with city cars and work your way up to high-speed supercars as you go.
Racing modes to try
Three modes cover the main ways to drive. Racing is the straightforward contest to cross the finish line first, run either on a closed track or through a city environment. Drifting swaps the finish line for style: you slide around corners and score points based on your speed, angle, and how controlled the drift looks. Off-Road Racing moves the action onto dirt and gravel, where clearance, traction, and durability matter as much as raw speed, and cars run larger tires and raised suspension to cope with the rough ground.
Tuning and looks
Before a race you can change how the car behaves and how it looks. Performance upgrades and settings adjustments affect handling, speed, and acceleration, so you can build a car that suits the way you drive rather than fighting it. On the cosmetic side you pick colors, stickers, wheels, and other visual upgrades. Two cars that handle the same can end up looking completely different, which makes the garage worth spending time in.
Playing with friends
You can race alone or join up with friends. Online PvP puts you against other drivers over the network, and Remote Play Together lets people join in from their own machines. Local multiplayer and local co-op are supported as well, so a group sharing one screen can race side by side. The mix of modes means a group can switch between outright racing, drift scoring, and off-road runs without changing games.
Controls and hardware
The game supports gamepads, which give precise steering and throttle control for this kind of driving. It also works with the FANATEC CSL Elite PS4 racing wheel, and other FANATEC wheels should work too. Support for wheels from other manufacturers is planned for the future, so check what you own before counting on a specific model.
