Defend the island as a Spirit
Spirit Island puts you in the role of a powerful Spirit of the land, set in an alternate-history world around A.D. 1700. Colonizing Invaders are spreading across your island, leaving Blight and destruction in their wake. Your goal is to work with the native Dahan to increase your power and drive the colonists out. This is a cooperative strategy game focused on area control, where every Spirit has its own unique elemental powers. The game includes all the content from the tabletop version, featuring 8 different Spirits, a modular island made of 4 balanced boards, and thematic island boards for a new challenge. You also get a wide range of cards, including unique Power cards for each Spirit, Minor Powers, Major Powers, Invader cards, Blight cards, and Fear cards that reward you for terrifying the Invaders.
Play together with your group
You can play Spirit Island solo with 1 to 4 Spirits, or bring your friends in for a shared session. For local play, you can use pass & play on one device, or use Steam Remote Play Together so friends can join from their own computers. The game also supports cross-platform online multiplayer, letting you team up with friends or other players from around the world. The number of Spirits you choose determines the size of the island, so your group can scale the session to match how many people are playing. With over 78,000 different potential game configurations, no two setups have to feel the same.
What to know before starting
Spirit Island is currently in Early Access, and only partial content is available right now, with more planned for future updates. The game offers a lot of variety through 3 multi-tier Adversaries (Brandenburg-Prussia, England, and Sweden) and 4 optional Scenarios, which let you fine-tune the challenge. You can pick between 3D Textured maps, 3D Classic maps, or 2D Classic maps depending on how you like to read the board. The rules have been carefully adapted and tested by expert players and the designer, so it works as a solid reference for tricky situations. Several DLC packs are also available to expand your options with new Spirits, Adversaries, Scenarios, cards, and mechanics like the Event Deck.
