Build Your Wildlife Preserves

Wingspan is a turn-based strategy card game about birds for 1 to 5 players. You take on the role of bird enthusiasts — researchers, bird watchers, ornithologists, and collectors — trying to discover and attract the best birds to your network of wildlife preserves. This is the digital adaptation of the board game that won the 2019 Kennerspiel des Jahres award.

Your goal is to build up your preserve over a limited number of turns. Each bird you play goes into one of your three habitats, and each habitat focuses on a key aspect of your preserve's growth. Every bird you add makes you better at laying eggs, drawing cards, or gathering food. The birds form chains of powerful combinations, so the order and placement of your plays matter. Many of the 170 unique birds have powers that echo real life: your hawks will hunt, your pelicans will fish, and your geese will form a flock. You score points through birds, bonus cards, and end-of-round goals.

Playing Together

Wingspan supports several ways to play with others. Online PvP lets you compete against other players over the internet, with matches supporting up to five players. Online Co-op is available if your group would rather work together than compete. Remote Play Together lets one person own the game and stream it to friends so the whole group can play along from their own setups.

Local Multiplayer and Local Co-Op cover playing together in the same room on one device. The game also works as a singleplayer experience when you want to play on your own.

Before You Start

Wingspan is a card-driven, engine-building game with resource management at its core. It is turn-based, so there is no real-time pressure — you can take your time reading bird powers and planning your moves. The tone is relaxed and wholesome, with hundreds of animated birds accompanied by their real-life sound recordings.

Expect a game where you are building an engine: early plays set up stronger turns later, and the birds you choose determine which actions become more efficient. Points come from several directions at once, so keep an eye on bonus cards and end-of-round goals alongside the birds in your preserve.
