Spiders with laser swords

SpiderHeck is a fast, physics-based brawler where you play a spider carrying a laser sword. Movement is the core of it: you swing on webs, crawl along walls and ceilings, and build up speed until a fight turns into a wild acrobatic scramble. Death comes fast — one hit and you are out, so every duel is short and tense. The weapon pool holds 25 options that can hurt you as easily as they hurt everyone else, which keeps matches unpredictable. The arenas add to that: 55 maps filled with physics obstacles and hazards, plus more you can grab from the Steam Workshop.

Playing together

Versus mode is where a group of friends spends most of its time. You can fight each other directly or take on randoms in acrobatic showdowns that swing between skillful and gloriously clumsy. Co-op works differently: the whole group holds off waves of enemies together, picking up upgrades as the rounds go on, while friendly fire is something you try your best to avoid. There is also a solo path with themed combat and parkour challenges for testing your own skills, and an editor for building versus maps, parkour courses and combat challenges to throw at the rest of the group.

Before you start

Expect a steep, funny learning curve. The physics are deliberately loose, so early matches will be full of falls, self-kills and accidental brilliance — that is part of the appeal. One-hit death means nobody gets a long comeback, and the weapons being dangerous to the wielder means a good idea can backfire instantly. The spiders start bald, and hats are unlocked by completing achievements, so cosmetics come with play rather than at the start. Online Co-op, Online PvP and Remote Play Together are supported, alongside local multiplayer for four players on one machine.
