Running a station that is already falling apart

Space Station: Beyond is a top-down pixel game where you pick a creature or character and get a job on a Nanotrasen workplace vessel. The catch is that everything that can go wrong has already gone wrong. You spend a shift keeping things together while threats work against you: a Nuclear Operative wants the Nuclear Authentication Disk and the nuke, a Thief steals anything they can carry, a Zombie wants brains, a Traitor hides among the crew, and a Cultist tries to convert everyone before summoning a god to consume the stars. Perma death is on the table, so a bad shift can end your character for good.

Jobs your group can split into

The station needs a crew that covers several roles at once. Engineers maintain structural and atmospheric integrity, or spend materials on a massive ship for joyrides. Scientists research anomalous activity and build new anomalous activity, often causing more problems than they solve. Security Officers arrest trouble-makers and terrorists. Doctors keep the crew healthy and prevent outbreaks. Cargo tracks supplies and moves the delivery shuttle. Chefs and Bartenders keep everyone fed, and Clowns are there too. With Online Co-op, your group can spread across these jobs and cover each other's gaps during a shift.

Fighting, scheming, and social time

Online PvP is available, so not everyone on the station is on your side. You can fight Security over wrongful convictions, construct new extensions to your habitat, or just follow the Clown around and heckle him all shift. Downtime exists too: hang out at the bar, walk the station parks, watch the Mime's show, or socialize with crew mates. Threats can sabotage the station or simply confuse everyone present, so a shift can swing between routine work and sudden chaos.

Before you start

Character customization lets you shape who you show up as. The game is a 2D pixel simulation with inventory management and PvE pressure, tagged as an immersive sim and medical sim, so expect systems to interact rather than a straight combat loop. Casual and Massively Multiplayer tags sit alongside the darker material, which includes perma death and PvP. Read the room before you commit to a plan; the station rewards crew that communicate and punishes those who wander in alone.
