A simulation with no objectives
Sometimes to Deal with the Difficulty of Being Alive, I Need to Believe There Is a Possibility That Life Is Not Real. is part video game, part art installation. You get a living space that responds to your presence, your stillness and your curiosity, but no goals, no checklist and no survival pressure. You wander through a shifting world in third person, watching it reshape around you. The tone sits between tragic and hilarious: NPCs sing about heartbreak in glitch-voice harmonies, battlefields double as therapy sessions, and the color palettes shift with your emotional temperature. It is described as a meditative, overstimulated reflection on what it means to keep going when everything is falling apart, and as an interactive loop of coping mechanisms where despair and delight blur into the same texture. The point is resonance rather than winning.
Playing it with friends
The game supports Online PvP and Remote Play Together, and it has multiplayer and PvP among its tags, so a group can end up sharing the same space rather than each person playing alone. You can play in single player mode, start a server or join a server. LAN also works, though the note from the developers is that it usually works from the .exe directly rather than from the app inside Steam. That detail matters if your group is planning to play over a local network, so sort out which way you are launching before everyone sits down. Beyond that, there is no prescribed way for a group to play together: the world responds to whoever is in it, so being in it together is most of the arrangement.
What to know before starting
The developers say plainly that this is not for everyone. If you are after a fun, addictive game with slick mechanics, this is not it, and they ask you not to download it in that case. Expect something closer to an abstract, surreal, psychedelic walking simulator with philosophical and psychological horror edges rather than a game that tells you what to do. It is colorful, hand-drawn and 3D, and it leans on atmosphere, absurdity and being overwhelmed as a kind of peace. Go in willing to observe, interact or simply exist, and give it time to work on you instead of waiting for a moment where it tells you what your goal is.
