What Arise: A Simple Story is about

Arise: A Simple Story is a third-person adventure about the loss of a loved one. You move through bittersweet recollections of a past life, where happiness and hardship, joy and sorrow sit side by side. The journey is built around memories rather than combat, so the pace stays calm and the focus stays on the places you pass through. Along the way you manipulate time, solve puzzles, and reshape your surroundings to push forward. The worlds you walk through lean surreal and colorful, with a strong pull on nature and stylized scenery.

Playing it together

The game carries a Local Co-Op tag, so a second player can join in on the same setup. Steam also lists Remote Play Together, which lets a friend join from their own machine while you host. Between the two, a group can sit in on the same session and share the run through the memories. The story itself is a single journey, so the second player is there to experience it alongside you rather than to run a separate mode.

Before you start

Expect a puzzle platformer with a story-rich, emotional core rather than a fast action game. The tags point to a relaxing, family friendly tone with exploration and time manipulation at the center of the design. It is tagged as Singleplayer as well, so the whole thing can be played alone if your group is not around. Set aside time for the full arc: the premise is about grief and remembrance, and the game leans into that from the first step.
