A 2D deathmatch built on physics

Soldat 2 is a side-view shooter where movement itself is the skill. Your soldier is driven by physics, so jumps, falls and landings all carry momentum, and the ragdoll bodies react to every hit. The weapon list covers realistic guns and military equipment, and the fights are fast, messy and violent. Visually it runs in a stylized 2.5D look, and there's a lo-fi mode that strips the picture down for clarity or for weaker machines. The game is in Early Access, made mostly by Michal 'MM' Marcinkowski, the original creator of Soldat.

Playing together as a group

The core of the game is online PvP. Team modes are the main way a group splits up: capture the flag, team deathmatch and domination, plus ranked matchmaking with player statistics if your group wants to keep score between sessions. You can also invite friends directly through Steam Friends, and if the lobby is thin, bots fill in so a match still runs. Customization and configs are built in, so everyone can set up their own loadout and controls before the round starts.

Maps, mods and what to expect

There's a built-in level editor and the game is tagged as moddable, so groups can make their own arenas and modes rather than only rotating through the stock maps. Battle royale and procedural generation are among the tags attached to the game, alongside competitive and eSports-leaning features. The store text notes that the community is small, so coordinating through Discord is the practical way to find other players at a given time. Since it's Early Access, expect active development and more content to land over time rather than a finished package.
