What STRAFTAT is

STRAFTAT is an online first person shooter built around short rounds. A match is made up of several rounds, and a round ends when only one survivor is left standing. Each round drops you into a different environment, so the layout, sight lines and available weapons change constantly. There are over 350 arenas in rotation, and every map carries its own set of weapons to pick up: firearms, explosives and melee. You hunt your opponent down with whatever the arena gives you rather than picking a loadout beforehand. The look is retro and low-poly, with a 1990s boomer shooter feel, gore and violent hits, and an atmospheric, slightly surreal tone.

How a group plays it together

STRAFTAT is built for online PvP. You can play 1v1, 2v2 or free-for-all with up to 4 players, so a group of friends can pair off for duels, team up in twos, or all drop into the same FFA match. Proximity chat is enabled, which means you hear people based on where they are in the arena — useful for trash talk, callouts and hearing someone creep up behind you. Quick rounds keep matches moving, so a group can cycle through many different maps in one sitting instead of grinding a single long session. Keyboard and gamepad are both supported, so people on different setups can join the same game.

Before you start

Rounds are short and lethal: one survivor wins, so expect to die often and respawn into a fresh environment with a fresh weapon set. Because weapons come from the map rather than a menu, learning which guns, explosives and melee sit in which arena matters as much as aim. The game is fast-paced and includes gore and violent content, so keep that in mind before jumping in with a mixed group. Hats and fashion wear are unlocked through unique challenges, which gives you something to chase between matches. It is free to play, so everyone in the group can install it and get straight into a match.
