A grappling-hook party brawler for one to four players
Skyhook is a 2D arena fighter where your grappling hook is both your movement and your weapon. You swing around the level, hook onto enemies to take them out, and keep moving so nobody pins you down. The cast is five unique characters, including the fast moving cat Jade and the teleporting assassin Anara, plus a treasure hunting cat and a land swimming shark. Chests drop from the sky packed with powerups like the berserker helmet, the shield, and the doppelganger mirror, and you can mount vehicles such as the cannon firing Airship or the lightning shooting Gryphon. Matches come with Special Options like Double Jump and Deadly Dodges so you can tune how chaotic the fight gets.
Playing together on the couch
Skyhook is built for local multiplayer with up to four players in the same room. Pick a mode and start swinging: Deathmatch runs until the last man, woman, shark or cat is standing, while Team Deathmatch sets up 2v2 or 3v1 battles where you can hook onto your teammates for gravity defying swings. Capture the Swag has you grab the bag on stage and hold it as long as you can, Sky Ball turns the hook into a scoring tool against the other team's goal, and Sky Slayers pays out points for kills but takes them away when you kill yourself. Steam Tank slows things down with a limit of three hooks that only regenerate while you're standing on solid ground. If nobody is around, you can fill the roster with up to three CPU players at different difficulty levels.
Before you start
You can play with controllers and/or keyboard, so check what everyone has on hand before you sit down. Quests give you difficult challenges to earn trophies and unlock new character skins, which gives the group something to work toward between matches. The store page also lists Remote Play Together as a Steam feature, alongside local co-op and local multiplayer. Expect a fast, close-quarters fight where the hook decides everything: who gets across the stage, who lands the kill, and who gets knocked off.
