What Shatter is
Shatter is a brick-breaking game built on a familiar idea: keep the ball in play, clear the bricks, move on. Sidhe adds its own twists on top with innovative controls, physics effects, power-ups, special attacks, and boss battles, so a round stays interactive instead of settling into a routine. The game runs through 10 distinct worlds presented in a vibrant 3D style, and each world ends with a challenging boss to face off against. The whole thing is wrapped in a retro-inspired synthwave soundtrack, an original score that has won awards, and the visuals lean psychedelic and stylized with a sci-fi, space-flavoured look. It moves fast and plays as an arcade game first, with a singleplayer side for anyone who just wants to work through it alone.
Playing it together
Shatter has co-op modes built in: Endless Co-op multiplayer and Time Attack Co-op multiplayer, where you and a friend take on the game side by side rather than trading turns. There is also local co-op and local multiplayer for people sharing a screen, which suits a group sitting around one machine. If your friends are scattered across Discord, Remote Play Together lets one person host and the others join in from their own setups, so the session still happens together. Alongside the co-op modes you can go at Story, Endless, Boss Rush, and Time Attack on your own, and leaderboards and achievements give the group something to compare afterwards.
Before you start
Expect a fast-paced arcade game rather than a slow one: the ball does not wait, and the physics effects and special attacks mean the screen is busy most of the time. Boss battles break up the brick-clearing, so a run is not just the same layout repeated. The soundtrack is a big part of the package, so playing with sound on changes the feel considerably. Pick the mode that matches your group's mood — Endless or Time Attack for co-op sessions, Story or Boss Rush when you want a run with a clear end — and settle the leaderboard rivalry after.
