A cat heist built around quantum tricks

Schrodinger's Cat Burglar follows Mittens, a cat burglar who gets caught in a quantum experiment during a heist gone wrong and comes out of it able to exist in two places at once. The game is a third-person 3D puzzle platformer set inside a secretive research facility full of test chambers. Pressing a button splits Mittens into two cats, and you control them to solve puzzles, slip through doors, and stay out of sight of security. The twist is that the superstate follows Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle: when nobody is looking, Mittens could be in either location, but once she's observed, things get theoretical. That rule drives the puzzle design, so you spend a lot of time thinking about who is watching what.

Alongside the main path there are hidden areas, sneaky mouse-bots, and tricky quantum shards for players who want a harder challenge. A content update added 12 bonus puzzles in the Experimental Department. If you'd rather cause chaos than solve anything, you can knock coffee off desks.

Playing together with friends

A friend can drop in and out of local co-op at any time, and the game also supports Steam Remote Play Together, so someone on your Discord can join your session from their own machine. The second player gets involved in the same cat-splitting puzzles, which means coordinating the two Mittens positions between you. One of you can hold a position while the other moves, or you can split attention across both quantum states at once. The drop-in/out structure means nobody is locked into a session — people can join when they show up and leave when they need to.

What to know before starting

Expect a puzzle platformer first and a story second, though the lab's secrets are part of the draw: what the facility is researching, what the pest-control robots are guarding, and who the mysterious Shadow Cat is. The tone is light and funny, with cute cats and a race to get home before breakfast, but the puzzles do ask you to reason about observation, doors that could theoretically have opened, and security that can't see what doesn't exist.

There's plenty of character customization to unlock — hats, cat breeds, accessories, and the level of cat chonkiness — and each option applies to either quantum position, so both cats can be dressed up. The game is tagged as singleplayer as well as local co-op, so it works fine solo if nobody's around.
