What Save Their Souls is

Save Their Souls is a platformer mixed with a memory game. Each level shows you a rescue plan you have to memorize, then you run through the level to reach the inhabitants of the occupied apartment before time runs out. Speed matters, but so does remembering the route you were shown. Levels unlock one after another in a linear order, and progress is kept with password saves in the style of old retro games. The whole thing carries a humorous tone rather than a serious one.

Playing it together

The game runs as a local co-op for up to 2 players in splitscreen, so you and a friend sit at the same screen and split the work between you. Responsibility is shared: you can divide the rescues and cover ground faster than one person alone. The same session also supports Remote Play Together, which lets a friend join over a connection instead of sharing your couch. Both keyboard and controller are supported, so each player can use whichever input they prefer.

Before you start

Expect to spend time looking at the minimap. It shows where the stairs are, which is how you pick the fastest path through the apartment once the plan is out of your head. The memory part is the real challenge: you get shown the rescue plan, then have to reproduce it under pressure while moving quickly through a platforming layout. Levels are unlocked in sequence, so you work through them in order rather than jumping around, and the password system means you can pick up where you left off. It's a casual, indie title with a retro look, so the presentation is simple and the humor does a lot of the heavy lifting.
