Build your bot in the Bot Lab
Robot Rumble 2 is a robot combat building simulator. You start in the Bot Lab, where you pick from a wide array of real-life inspired components and assemble your machine. The electronics simulation goes deep: you balance electric motors, speed controllers and batteries, and set up flippers using pneumatic cylinders, valves and air tanks. Gearing comes through chains, belts and an array of gearboxes, so you can build super fast spinners or high torque lifters. Construction uses basic parts and custom shapes, all fully simulated through a "welded/bolted connection strength" based damage model, with real world materials behaving as they do in real life. You can decorate with props, mechanical parts, decals or custom made shapes, and import and export custom robots to download more or share your own.
Fight in the arena
Once your robot is built, you take it into the arena to defeat other robots. Matches are configurable and support up to four robots on a single screen. The fight modes cover AI vs AI, Player vs AI, and Player vs Player both local and online using Steam Remote Play Together or Parsec. Weight classes follow the real robot combat world, from tiny 3lbs/1.5kg Beetleweights up to 340lbs/154kg super heavyweight behemoths. Arenas come with hazards like hammers, rollers and pits, and you can import custom arenas. For the AI matches, you can code each robot's behavior with the built-in miniscript scripting language through the miniscript AI editor, letting your robot fight on its own.
Before you start
Robot Rumble 2 is a passion project built by and for fans of robotic combat, still in active development by a dedicated team. That means there are bugs and placeholder assets in use, though the game is fully playable in its current state and has tens of thousands of hours of community playtesting behind it. The community runs through Discord, where you can download custom robots, arenas and AIs, share your own creations, and take part in weekly competitions and tournaments that sometimes feature over 100 unique robots.
