A boxer out to clear his name
Revenge of the Boxer: Moscow Criminality follows a professional boxer whose life in the big ring ended when he was accused of a murder he did not commit. The evidence went against him and the trial found him guilty, so he ends up in prison. From there he decides that justice has to be taken back by force of will and by his own fists. That sets up a run through brutal fights against representatives of Moscow's toughest mobster syndicates. The tone mixes noir crime with comedy, so expect fights that play out in a lighthearted, over-the-top way rather than a grim one.
Fighting on the streets of Moscow
The brawling happens on the streets of Moscow, and the cast is drawn from the everyday turbulent life of the capital. The game describes itself as an action 2D fighting game with 3D visuals, a third-person camera and PvE combat, so you are working through opponents on foot rather than boxing in a ring. Fights are sold as hilarious and without rules, which fits the spectacle-fighter tag: the point is to keep swinging and get through crowds of enemies. The story carries the whole thing, so the fights are tied to the hero's push to prove his innocence.
Modes and playing together
There are 3 game modes: "Career", "Battle" and "2 players". Career is the story-driven path where you fight toward clearing your name, Battle gives you a separate way to fight, and 2 players is the mode for playing with a friend. The Steam features list Remote Play Together, so a friend can join your session over the internet even if they do not own the game themselves. The tags also mention multiplayer and PvP alongside the PvE combat, so check which mode suits your group before you start.
Before you start
The game carries the Singleplayer tag as well as multiplayer ones, so a group can either take turns watching someone run the Career mode or jump into the 2 players mode for a shared session. It is set in a 1990s Moscow crime setting with abstract, atmospheric visuals, and the fighting is the core of every mode. Pick the mode that matches how your group wants to play, then get into the streets and start swinging.
