A 90s arcade fighter set in Neo Seoul
Verdict Guilty is a 2D fighting game built in the style of 90s arcade cabinets, with pixel graphics and a cops versus robbers theme. Neo Seoul is under a wave of terrorist and crime attacks, and only a few good officers are left willing to fight back. You pick a side, police or criminal, and punch and shoot your way toward uncovering the dark secrets of the city and unmasking the syndicate crimelord. Eight fighters are available, and each one has their own story mode, so the campaign changes depending on who you pick.
Playing together
The game carries a Multiplayer tag and supports Steam's Remote Play Together, which lets friends join in over a connection rather than sitting at the same machine. That makes it a straightforward pick for a Discord group: one person owns the game, the rest tag along, and you take turns throwing down in versus matches. Fighting games work well for this kind of session because rounds are short, so nobody waits long between turns and you can keep a rotating bracket going.
What to know before starting
Special moves are designed to be easy to perform, and the game is aimed at beginners and people who do not usually play fighting games, so the learning curve should not get in the way of a group session. Combat is not purely fists: gunplay is part of the system, with machineguns, pistols and grenades in the mix alongside the standard melee exchanges. Matches run at 60FPS, and the game supports dual controllers, 16:9 and 16:10 widescreen, Steam leaderboards, achievements and trading cards. It is a small download and is stated to run on netbooks and older PCs, which takes some of the friction out of getting everyone set up. The soundtrack comes from Bossfight and Truong-Son Nguyen, and the OST is included with the game.
