A brutal 2D beat 'em up sequel
Skinny & Franko: Fists of Violence is a hand-drawn side-scrolling brawler and the sequel to the Amiga classic Franko: The Crazy Revenge. The story picks up 28 years after the original game. Franko returns to Poland to get his old friend Shorty out of trouble, and with his pal Skinny at his side, he tears through the streets of Szczecin. The game leans into dark humor, bad language, and a mix of realistic settings with satire. Expect a linear, arcade-style campaign with a story to follow as you punch, kick, and weapon your way forward.
Playing together as a group
The game supports a 2-player co-op mode, so you and a friend can clean up the streets side by side. Steam also lists Remote Play Together, which lets a friend join your session over the internet even if they do not own the game. You take on the waves of enemies and the boss fights as a team, combining your attacks to get through the packed stages.
What to know before starting
The campaign spans 8 intense main stages, plus a few bonus levels and secret locations to uncover. Combat is deep for a brawler: you have access to over 50 different weapons and special attacks, and you will face more than 80 distinct enemies with no reskins. Between the fistfights, there are car driving and shooting mini-games to break up the pace. The visuals are entirely hand-drawn with 30,000 frames of old-school animation, giving it a stylized, cartoony look. It is a single-player game at heart with co-op layered on top, so playing solo is a fully supported way to experience the story.
