A boxing career with real consequences

Bruisers 2D Boxing is a pixel-art boxing game where you build a fighter from scratch and take them as far as they'll go. The boxing itself is meant to feel real rather than scripted: you pick your punches from jabs, straights, hooks, uppercuts and overhands, then work on timing, counters, slipping, head movement and parrying to get the better of whoever is in front of you. Get close and your stance shifts into in-fighting automatically. You can also tie up an opponent in the clinch and land shots there until the referee breaks it up. Three styles — Slick, Bully and Balanced — each come with their own strengths and weaknesses, so picking one and learning how it wins matters as much as throwing the right punch.

Managing a life between fights

The career mode is as much about what happens outside the ring as inside it. You plan meals, make weight, watch your vitals, and hold down a job between fights to fund what you need. Workouts, job shifts and nutrition all have to be balanced to stay healthy and level up. Your boxer ages in real time and damage accumulates, so a career full of hard fights leaves its mark. Injuries and health management matter as much as anything that happens in the ring: push too hard and you pay for it. You climb through the amateur, professional and bareknuckle circuits, or drop into the underground bareknuckle leagues instead. Rivalries develop along the way and some get personal, and every decision compounds — a bad camp, a missed weight cut, the wrong fight at the wrong time all add up. Outside the ring the world has its own rules, with shady dealings, illegal gambling and a mob presence lurking below the surface, plus "options" for an edge if you know where to look. Some consequences are fatal.

Playing together and what to expect

For a group, quick play is the couch option: pick from a roster of more than 100 fighters inspired by real boxing history and settle a beef with a friend, winner takes all. Remote Play Together is supported, so friends can join in over a connection as well. The fights take place across backyard shows, dingy gyms, smoky clubs and packed arenas, and each one has a life of its own — blood, stoppages and knockouts are part of the picture, and some referees stop the fight while others don't. Expect a throwback look over modern systems underneath, a 16-bit-inspired soundtrack by Nick Bassett, and a game that is still in Early Access.
