A retro shooter built for fast, messy fights

REKKR: Sunken Land is a first-person shooter in the style of mid-90s classics, with chunky pixel graphics and a dark fantasy setting drawn from norse and celtic myth. You come home from war to find your village destroyed and your people killed, and the rest of the game is your rampage through the monsters responsible. The journey runs across 4 episodes and 32 levels, plus 4 secret levels, moving from an island town into underground cities, capital districts, the otherworld, and the ruins of a lost magic-tech civilization called the Sunken Land. Combat stays simple and fast: dodge incoming fireballs, keep moving, and put your 7 weapons to work against more than 12 kinds of monsters that all want you dead.

Playing with your group

The game supports online co-op, so you and your friends can push through the campaign together, splitting attention across the horde and covering each other when things get crowded. When you would rather fight each other, online PvP is there, and the game ships with 25 unique deathmatch arenas for that. Either way, the same core loop applies: move constantly, watch for projectiles, and use the level geometry to stay alive. Co-op makes the campaign a shared push through the episodes, while PvP turns the same movement and weapon knowledge into a head-to-head contest.

Before you start

Expect a violent, gory experience in a grim setting; the tone is revenge-driven dark fantasy rather than anything lighthearted. The singleplayer campaign is the main path through the 4 episodes, with the secret levels tucked in for players who go looking. The retro presentation means readability comes from silhouette and motion, so learning monster tells and projectile patterns matters more than complex systems. Along the way the game keeps its sense of humor intact, and occasionally you will rescue a puppy between the carnage.
