What Phantom Abyss is

Phantom Abyss drops you into procedurally generated temples full of hidden traps, chasms and relentless guardians. You run through branching paths in first person, dodging and leaping your way toward the relics buried in the deadly chambers below. Each temple is a one-shot deal: you get a single attempt, and if you die or settle for a lesser relic, that temple is gone from your run for good. Grab the Legendary Relic at the bottom and the whole temple is claimed as your trophy, then disappears forever. Keys found in chests open deeper, harder floors where the better relics sit, so pushing further is always a trade against the risk of losing the attempt.

Playing alongside other adventurers

The multiplayer here is asynchronous. You explore the same temple alongside the phantoms of players who already failed there, watching up to 20 of them repeat their runs, including friends from your Steam list. Their mistakes show you which traps and drops ended them, and you can pick up their whips as they fall. That makes other people's failures a map you can read. Temple Codes let you hand a specific temple to a friend so they can try it themselves, and an Adventure Code produces a playlist of the temples you have attempted, which is a neat way to keep a group working through the same gauntlet.

Blessings, whips and what to know before starting

Treasure collected during a run can be offered at altars for a blessing that lasts the rest of that attempt: double jump, glide jump, extended slide, damage protection and more. Whips unlock with success and each one carries a minor blessing alongside a curse that can complicate the run, so loadout choice matters before you set off. Death is permanent for that temple, and the difficulty scales with how deep you go. Expect a tense, fast-paced climb where reading other players' phantoms carefully is as useful as quick reflexes.
