A race against the clock in the Arctic

Nuclear Nightmare drops your team into a harsh Arctic landscape where the black goo virus is spreading and the US government is preparing a nuclear strike to contain it. Your job is to recover classified materials about the virus before that strike lands. The world is open and large, with vehicles and huskies to help you cover ground, and events, enemies, items and scenarios are randomly generated so no two runs play out the same. Scavenge supplies, call in an evacuation chopper, and get back to civilization in one piece.

Playing together as an extraction team

You form an elite extraction team with other players and split up the work: gathering supplies, hauling salvage, watching each other's backs. Communication matters because the map is big and the threats are everywhere. Flamethrowers, shotguns and flare guns are there to defend against what the virus has spawned, but ammunition and inventory space are limited, so coordinating who carries what pays off. World settings can be tailored to your group's preferred play style, which lets you set the tone before you start.

Infection, perks and the things that hunt you

Testing for infections is a core part of the run. Anyone can turn, including your husky companions, and each vaccine cures an infection only once. Your inventory holds just five slots, so every item you carry is a decision. Points earned along the way unlock perks at soda machines, along with new suits and dance moves, giving you something to build toward across attempts. Huskies can be trained to scavenge items, guard your location or alert you to danger. Perma death is on the table, so a careless mistake can end a run for good.

Before you start

Expect a mix of survival horror, exploration and the occasional lighter moment, with PvE threats rather than other players working against you. The game is in Early Access, so content and balance can shift as it develops. Bring a group that likes scavenging, resource management and reading the situation together, and be ready to leave before the bomb does.
