A rock band against an EDM empire

No Straight Roads: Encore Edition is an action-adventure where you start a rock band and take on the EDM empire known as NSR. You explore Vinyl City, meet larger-than-life characters, and lead a musical revolution to bring back rock. The combat is third-person and rhythm-infused, so you fight musical megastars across a range of genres, including a pop-tastic boy band, a globe-spinning DJ, and a child prodigy pianist. The soundtrack comes from a line-up of musical talent including Falk Au Yeong, Andy Tunstall, Funk Fiction, Masahiro "Godspeed" Aoki, Az Samad, Clyde Rabatel, and the Video Game Orchestra.

Playing together

The Steam features list Remote Play Together, which lets your group join in over a single copy of the game. The Encore Edition also includes an improved multiplayer camera alongside other quality of life improvements, so the shared view stays readable while you fight through Vinyl City together.

What the Encore Edition adds

This is an enhanced version of the original music action-adventure. It contains the full base game plus the festive-focused Christmas Edition update, which brings music, decorations, outfits, and more to celebrate the holidays. On top of that you get brand new remixes, a new opening cinematic, an expanded collection of tracks, and quality of life improvements such as enhanced visual effects, improved audio cues, and equipment presets. Vinyl City also holds over 500 pieces of fan art to view and collect as you explore.

Before you start

The game is tagged as Family Friendly and Cartoony, with a colorful, atmospheric presentation, so it suits groups looking for something lively rather than grim. Combat leans on rhythm and spectacle, so expect to read musical cues as you fight rather than relying on a standard turn-based flow. The journey through Vinyl City is linear, which keeps a group focused on the same path as you work through the megastars and push back the NSR empire.
