A rhythm game with a story to unwind
HYPERBEAT puts you in the role of a knight in an order chasing its highest potential. The core loop is fast-paced, precision rhythm gameplay set to a completely original soundtrack that runs over 90 minutes. Alongside the music, there is a story mode that follows an ensemble cast whose intertwined tales unfold as you engage with their work through a "social link" system. The setting is the Wellspring, a tranquil hub world described as a moment of serenity, where you can explore, meet the KNIGHTS, and visit the bar to share quiet conversations that reveal the connections between everyone.
Playing together with your group
You can play alone or with friends, with full support for online co-op. The game offers both public and private lobbies where you can hang out at the Wellspring or see each other flying in the dream, with up to 250 other players. Within these sessions, you can compare scores using session-based leaderboards. Beyond the built-in songs, the game has full support for creating and sharing your own charts through workshop integration, letting you put your own music in or download charts made by others.
What to know before starting
There are sixty handcrafted rhythm charts, each with three difficulties, so there is a range of challenge available. Accessibility options and difficulties let you tailor the experience, and no prior rhythm game experience is required. Input is flexible, with support for controller, mouse, and tablet. Customization is a large part of the journey: over 100 unlockable cosmetic items are earned through a collect-a-thon, ranging from outfit tweaks to complete style overhauls, and you can also customize the palette of the game itself, including the colors of the notes. As you grow closer to other members of the cast, you receive unique items that carry a piece of their story.
