Hero versus giant boss, split across two screens

Nemesis Perspective is a local multiplayer action game built around one classic setup: a giant boss and a hero trying to take it down. The two players use completely different interfaces. One player wears an HTC VIVE and controls the boss, while the other player uses a console controller and a traditional display screen to control the hero. The game is intended for 2 players, so it works best when both people are in the same room with their own gear ready.

How a session plays out

The boss player works in VR, using motion controls to act out the role of the monster, while the hero player plays from the flat screen with a standard controller. Each side gets to be the one in charge: you can play as the boss or play as the hero, and swapping roles between rounds is the natural way to see the match from both ends. The two interfaces are deliberately different, which is the core of the asymmetric multiplayer setup rather than a side feature. If only one person is around, the hero can be handled by AI instead, so there is a single player option alongside the two-player mode.

What to know before starting

You will need an HTC VIVE for the boss player and a console controller for the hero player, plus the normal display the hero plays on. The developers describe the controls as intuitive and easy to start, which makes it a reasonable pick as a first VR experience for someone who has not used a headset before. Skilled play still has room to grow, so the simple controls do not mean shallow matches. The developers also state that no cases of motion sickness have been recorded so far, which is worth knowing if you are cautious about VR comfort.
