Build a settlement in an endless world
Necesse drops you into an infinite, procedurally generated 2D world where you start with very little and work your way up. Your first goal is survival: cut down trees, mine ores, pick herbs, and harvest what drops from defeated monsters. From those raw materials you craft walls, furniture, armour, potions, scrolls, trinkets, and weapons across a variety of workshops. As your colony grows, you establish orchards, farms, and workshops, then recruit settlers with specific skills to work the fields, tend animals, and gather resources on their own so you are not doing everything by hand. You can also hire guards and craft traps to keep your settlement safe from the dangers that roam the world.
Play together your way
Necesse supports playing alone, in co-op with friends, or on a dedicated server that can hold hundreds of players. The world and its threats adapt to whichever mode you choose, so a small group and a large server both face a meaningful challenge. How your group splits up is up to you: you can pool resources and divide roles to build one giant shared settlement, or each player can establish a separate competing colony. When it is time to take on a boss, you can form a balanced party that plays to each member's strengths, or you can go in alone and try to grab all the glory yourself. Combat supports different styles, so one player might focus on archery, another on melee, and another on magic.
Dungeons, bosses, and expeditions
Beyond building, Necesse is about venturing out. Explore a variety of biomes with unique monsters, take on specific quests, and crawl through deep dungeons searching for treasure and raw materials. Out on the water you can traverse the seas and seek out tougher foes, including pirate kings, dragons, and fallen wizards. Some unique equipment only drops from special enemies, so hunting them down is worth the trip. You can also sell your wares and trade with neighbouring settlements to get better gear earlier than crafting alone would allow.
Rules you can tune
Before you start, know that Necesse is in Early Access and offers a lot of control over how the game plays. You can customise difficulty and adjust multiple gameplay rules, such as turning raiders off entirely if you would rather build in peace, changing the length of the day/night cycle, or tweaking how hard boss battles are. This means your group can agree on a settings mix that suits everyone before committing to a world.
