A dwarf colony under your command
Craft The World is a sandbox strategy game where you lead a tribe of dwarves through a randomly generated island. You start with a single dwarf and gain more as your experience level rises. Instead of controlling each dwarf directly, you issue commands: dig in a certain spot, attack an enemy, build a house, or set up a workshop. You also need to keep them fed and clothed, and use magic to help in fights against the world's other inhabitants. The island runs from the sky down through many layers of earth to boiling lava at the bottom, with oceans as natural edges. Worlds differ in size, humidity, temperature, terrain, and flora and fauna, and they include day and night cycles plus changing weather.
Playing together with Online Co-op
The game supports Online Co-op, so you and your friends can share the work of running the colony. One person can focus on digging and resource gathering while another handles building and defense, and someone else can spend time on crafting or exploration. Since you are all issuing orders to the same tribe, coordinating who digs where and who guards the base keeps the dwarves productive. The spells you have as a divine being, such as speeding up movement, opening small portals, lighting dark caves, evoking rain or tree growth, hurling fireballs, and finding resources or hidden rooms, can be used to support whatever the group is working on at the time.
What to know before starting
The world is full of fantasy creatures: zombies, skeletons, goblins, beholders, ghosts, giant spiders, and others. Some ignore the dwarves unless they come into view, while others gather into large groups and try to break into your residence. Waves of monsters appear from time to time from portals, so plan for defense with strong walls, trapdoors, cells, firing towers, and secret passageways. Crafting is central, with a recipe system organized for easy access. You can make building blocks, furniture, decorations, weapons, armor, ammunition, and food. You begin knowing recipes for basic tools and items, enough to build a small house with places to sleep and eat. Abandoned halls and rooms with treasure are hidden somewhere deep in the islands, worth searching for as your tribe grows.
