Survival on a procedurally generated island

Muck is a survival-roguelike from Dani. You and anyone you play with get dropped onto an island that is generated fresh each run, so no two starts look the same. The goal is simple: stay alive as long as you can. You gather resources from around the island, craft tools, weapons and armor, hunt down items and put up a base. Daylight is when you do all of that — chopping, mining, looting, building. Once night falls, mysterious enemies come out of the shadows, and everything you collected and crafted during the day is what you fight with. When a run ends, you start over on a new island.

Playing with your group

Muck supports online co-op and online PvP, so you can share an island with your friends or go against each other. In co-op, splitting up the work is the obvious play: one person gathers and crafts while another digs out a shelter, then everyone defends together when the night comes. PvP turns the same sandbox hostile, where the gear and powerups you found become leverage over the other players. Either way, the island is thrown at the whole group at once, so communication about what you've found and what's about to arrive matters more than any single loadout.

What to know before you start

It's a first-person 3D action roguelike with a colorful look, and runs are meant to end — dying just means a new island. Combat, mining, building and crafting all sit at the center of the loop, and the island has many unique powerups to find on top of what you build yourself. Expect a day-night rhythm you have to plan around: the night is the hard part, so everything before it is preparation. It's free to play and labeled action-adventure with roguelike and survival tags, which fits the mix of exploration, base building and fighting. Bring a group that enjoys restarting together and you'll get the most out of it.
