Two sides of the same hunt
Midnight Ghost Hunt is a 4v4 multiplayer hide-and-seek game where one team plays Ghosts and the other plays Ghost Hunters. Ghosts hide inside furniture — chairs, lamps, grandfather clocks — and wait for the Hunters to pass by. When a Hunter's back is turned, the Ghost can lash out with telekinetic attacks and throw the environment at them. Hunters sweep the location with detection gear and try to root the Ghosts out before time runs out. The match runs on a clock, and when it strikes twelve the witching hour begins: Ghosts become supercharged and the Hunters get a limited window to simply survive. Roles flip, so both teams get a turn at being the predator.
Playing together as a team
Communication matters more than aim here. Ghosts benefit from calling out which rooms Hunters are sweeping and coordinating possessions so several objects move at once. Hunters share paths enemies tend to tread, and combining abilities creates openings that solo play cannot. Ghosts have supernatural powers such as invisibility, floating furniture, a Ghostly miasma, and even disguising themselves as a Hunter's doppelgänger. Perks extend possession range, let you see Hunters through walls, or boost your weight. Hunters pick from hi-tech gadgets: the Spectrophone, Radar and Pathfinder to detect presences, Traps and the Vacuum to capture and collect remains, plus the Spectral Cannon, sledgehammers, harpoons and salt-spewing shotguns for direct damage. Their Perks add speed, health regeneration and similar boosts.
Before you start
Ten maps are available, including an abandoned theatre, an eerie mansion and a cursed carnival, each with its own tactical layout and throwable items. Dedicated servers and host migration keep matches running smoothly, and Progression Tier and Challenge systems track your progress across the hunt. The Experimental Darkness mode trades some of the silliness for a scarier tone if your group wants that. Crossplay and full controller support are included, and the GhostMaster minigame fills the van ride between matches. Expect a chaotic, tongue-in-cheek tone rather than straight horror — the comedy and the tactical team play are what hold a round together.
