What MeowGun: Hell Denizen is
This is a fast-paced first-person shooter with a silly, cute-gore style. Earth has been taken over by demons, and a catgirl codenamed MeowMeow fights back. You shoot, claw and blow up hordes of demons, zombies and other monsters across colorful environments. The game runs on the FTEQW engine. The campaign takes you through 30 levels of demon-infested industrial complexes, cityscapes, decayed forgotten places and snowy northern Finland. Along the way there are secrets to discover and lost kittens to rescue. Each of the 5 episodes ends with a boss monster encounter.
Playing together
The game supports up to 4 player local split screen multiplayer in co-op, deathmatch and survival modes. Split screen requires XInput compatible controllers or gamepads, and there is an auto aim setting for gamepad play. Online Co-op and Online PvP are also listed as Steam features. In Survival mode you fight against the ever-growing army of the demons in the deathmatch levels until they overwhelm you.
Before you start
You have 17 weapons with alternate firing modes, including automatic Magnum Pistols, a double barreled Shotgun, a rapid fire Machinegun, a powerful Railgun, a guided Missile Launcher and a high tech Plasma Rifle. There are 3 kinds of throwable bombs and a Power Meow that can blast enemies around. You face 32 different kinds of enemies, from easy cannon fodder Troopers to dangerous Demon Knights, blood thirsty Brute Butchers, strange Dimensional Shamblers and cybernetic Alien Hunters. Optional gameplay modifiers let you fine tune the difficulty. There is also a Meowpedia glossary of in-game statistics, items, guns and enemies, an optional 256 color palette shader for a retro look, a meow button, silly voicelines and a psychedelic soundtrack.
