What Last Train Outta' Wormtown is
Last Train Outta' Wormtown is an asymmetrical online multiplayer game where cowboys face off against a giant sandworm. The core rule is simple: the Worm can only detect players who are touching the sand. Treat the ground like hot lava and stay off it as much as you can. Rounds use randomized map layouts, so the town you run through changes every time, and the maps come in fun, festive themes.
Playing as a pardner
As a pardner, you work with your fellow players to complete objectives and get out of Wormtown. Getting around means running, jumping, climbing, and using powerful tools to cross the treacherous environment. Every moment you spend touching the sand risks alerting the Worm, so movement choices matter. Pardners have in-depth customization available, and there are more than 100 challenges to work through with unlockable cosmetics attached to them.
Playing as the Worm
If you would rather be the threat, play as the Worm instead. The Worm has an arsenal of special abilities and can burrow underground at immense speed to hunt down pardners before they leave town. The Worm also has its own in-depth customization. Matches can be tuned with fully customizable match settings, so you can shape the experience to fit your group.
Getting a group together
Lobbies hold up to 16 players, and there is a public lobby browser to find games. The Friend's Pass system means only the host of a lobby needs to own the game; everyone else joins the host's lobby for free. Two features are not available through the Friend's Pass: the public lobby browser and the 100+ challenges with their unlockable cosmetics, so players joining that way should know those are host-only.
