Fighting the plant empire
Juicy Realm is a top-down roguelike shooter where plants have grown arms, legs and self-awareness, pushing humanity off the top of the food chain. You play as one of the first explorers pushing into the newly discovered plant empire, taking on bizarre and colorful fruits with guns and gear. Runs feature random zones, treasures and monsters, so each push deeper throws different layouts and encounters at you. Along the way you pick up new weapons, items and resources, which you use to defend yourself and expand your base camp. The art is detailed and cartoony, with the fruits themselves as the enemies.
Playing with friends
The game has a solo campaign and local multiplayer, so you can bring friends in on the same screen when the plant army gets too much to handle alone. Steam also lists Remote Play Together, which lets friends join over the internet as if they were sitting next to you. Co-op runs work the same way as solo: push deeper into random zones, grab gear, and cover each other against the fruit. The tags include co-op, local co-op and multiplayer, so group play is a core part of the package rather than a side mode.
Before you start
Expect a roguelike loop: random zones, random treasures and random monsters each run, with gear and resources carried back to your base camp to grow it over time. Difficulty scales with how deep you push, and the plant army is described as an overwhelming destructive force, so runs can end before you reach the end. The game is tagged as a twin stick shooter with shoot 'em up elements, which means aiming and movement are handled separately and positioning matters in every fight. It is tagged casual and cute alongside action RPG and roguelite, so the tone stays light even when a run goes badly.
