What Juiced! is

Juiced! is a 2D retro platformer built in the style of 1990's DOS games. You play as treasure hunter Tiko, who is chasing an evil wizard after the Eternal Crystals he needs to power his machine. The quest takes you through 15 unique worlds, each with its own boss battle, and the whole thing is set up as a story-driven adventure rather than a string of disconnected levels. Along the way you fight 80 different enemies, collect 30 unique weapons and powerups, and hunt for secret collectibles and bonus stages. The game lists over 10 hours of playtime, and there are more than 40 tracks of synthesizer music running under it.

Playing it with friends

Juiced! has local co-op multiplayer, so two people can sit down and run through the platforming and boss fights together on one setup. Remote Play Together is also supported, which lets a friend join your session over the internet as if they were on the same couch. The tag list includes both Singleplayer and Multiplayer, so you can just as easily take it on alone when nobody's around. Character customization is on offer through unlockable outfits, which gives each of you something to work toward during a shared run.

Before you start

The difficulty is adjustable, so a group can set it to whatever suits them instead of arguing about it later. There are unlockable challenges called Time Trial and YOLO for when the main path stops being enough, plus the outfits mentioned above. Full gamepad support is included, which is worth knowing if you plan to pass a controller around or play from the sofa. Expect a mix of straightforward platforming and puzzle platforming, with the puzzles described as both challenging and funny, and bosses that will take a few tries. The presentation is cartoony and pixel-art driven, with aliens and old-school sensibilities throughout.
