Surveying ARY-26
You are the newest recruit of Kindred Aerospace, the 4th best interstellar space exploration company. Your job is to determine if the planet ARY-26 is fit for humans. You are short on equipment and experience, but you will figure it out. The work involves exploring the planet and cataloging its flora and fauna, from strange spherical birds to hallucinogenic plants to festering alien orifices. The survey has bonus mysteries attached to it, and finishing the job tells you whether you are alone on the planet.
Tools and Progression
You start with a laser pistol, a rocket booster pack, and a probe. When you need something better, a 3D printer turns space trash into new items. The planet is laid out in a Metroidvania style, so areas open up as your gear improves. Expect first-person shooting, platforming, and plenty of exploration, with dark comedy running through the whole thing.
Playing With Your Group
You can play solo or online with a friend. Two players work through the survey together, splitting up to catalog creatures and plants or teaming up on whatever is trying to kill you. The tone stays light even when the planet does not, so it suits a pair that enjoys a story-rich adventure with jokes baked into the world.
