What Inkwellers is

Inkwellers is an online two-player co-op puzzle adventure. A mysterious client leaves an old, dusty journal under your shop's door, and its magic pulls you and your partner into the worlds hidden inside enchanted journals. You play as the Inkwellers, moving through a colorful, stylized 3D world full of magic, mystery, and strange challenges. The game is dialogue heavy and built around puzzles rather than combat, so the pace comes from looking closely at your surroundings, piecing clues together, and figuring out what each challenge wants from you. Expect a first-person view, an atmospheric and cinematic presentation, and a run that takes about 4 to 6 hours to complete.

How the two of you play together

This game is co-op only. There is no solo mode and no way to play alone, so you need a friend to join you before you start. Both players take an active role: you share what you find, connect ideas, and talk through each puzzle before putting the solution into action. One of you will spot something the other cannot, and progress comes from combining what each player sees. Communication is the core mechanic here, not an extra — speaking to each other and passing discoveries back and forth is how you advance through the story and get past magical challenges.

Before you start

Both players need a microphone and a stable internet connection. Since the whole design leans on talking to your partner, playing without voice chat will make the puzzles much harder to work through. Set aside a session of a few hours, or plan to pick it up across a couple of sittings, since a full playthrough runs 4 to 6 hours. Make sure you and your friend can both commit to the same run, because the campaign is built for exactly two people from beginning to end.
