What Hobs is

Hobs is a turn-based card game built around finding a deck that fits the way you want to play. You take turns with your opponent, play cards, and try to beat them with a strategy you have put together yourself. The game is in Early Access, so it is still being worked on and things can change as development continues. It uses 2D pixel graphics and is free to play.

Playing against others

Hobs is played online against other people. Each match is a head-to-head turn-based fight, so the pace is set by the two players taking their actions in order rather than by real-time reflexes. Because the game is about out-thinking your opponent, you can spend time between turns reading the board, planning your next move, and reacting to what they play. Online play means you can match up with opponents whenever you want a round.

Building your deck

A big part of the game is assembling the deck that supports your strategy. You buy new heroes and use them to shape how your deck works, then test different combinations to see which ones hold up against real opponents. Since you can try different strategies, you are not locked into one approach: if a plan stops working, you can rebuild around a different hero or a different style of play. Working out which deck beats which is the core loop, and it rewards experimenting rather than sticking to a single setup.

Before you start

Expect to spend time tuning your deck before you feel confident in matches. The game is Early Access, so features and balance may shift while it is in development. It is free to play, and matches are played online against other players in turn-based rounds. Going in with the mindset that you will test ideas, lose a few rounds, and adjust your deck is the fastest way to get into it.
