What Heal & Hurt is
Heal & Hurt is a fast-paced old school arena shooter where you fight as an angel or a skeleton. Every time you die you switch sides, so a match keeps putting you in the other role with a different set of abilities. The arenas are colorful and cartoony, and the world around you changes its look depending on which character you are playing as. There are six different weapons to pick up and use. Damage types matter a lot: your shots can either hurt or heal, and that applies to your enemies and to yourself, so you have to read what is actually happening in a gunfight instead of just holding the trigger.
Playing together
This is online PvP, free for all, so a group of friends ends up shooting at each other rather than teaming up. Two gamemodes are available. Deathmatch is the straightforward one where you eliminate opponents to win. Hold the Crown puts everyone competing for a crown that gives you score, which means the fights cluster around whoever is carrying it. Both modes run on the same core movement and combat tools, so you can jump between them and still know what you are doing.
Movement and abilities
Movement is where the two sides really split. As an angel you can fly through the skies and take shots from high ground, and you can use teleports to get across the map quickly. As a skeleton you can slide to dodge incoming fire, you pass through the bony walls found in the maps, and you can dive underwater without drowning. Angels do drown if they stay under too long, so remember to come up for air. Rocket jumping is on offer for both sides, and teleports work either way.
Before you start
Heal & Hurt is in Early Access, so expect things to still be in progress. It supports controller play alongside first-person mouse aiming. The tag list includes adult content, so check that before playing around others. Learn which of your attacks heals and which hurts early on, since firing the wrong type into a fight can undo your own work as fast as it damages the enemy.
