What Hamster Playground is

Hamster Playground is a casual racing and simulation game about raising hamsters and putting them into races. You train your hamsters, build up their abilities and skillsets, then take on higher-level opponents as you improve. Races happen in mazes and on drag strips, with AI-driven hamsters as your rivals. The controls are simple — a single button is all you need to race — but the competition still gets tense. Cross the finish line first and you earn rewards and yummy treats. The game is free to play, and more modes are planned for the full game at launch.

Playing together

You can race against other people both locally and online. Locally, up to 4 players share the same setup, which works well when your group is in the same room. Online multiplayer lets you compete with people who are far away, so your Discord group can race each other from wherever everyone is. Either way, the format is straightforward: everyone lines up, the race runs, and the fastest hamster wins. It suits groups that want something quick and lighthearted between longer sessions.

Before you start

There's more to the game than racing. You look after your hamsters and expand their house, furnishing it with new equipment until it's the mansion they deserve. You can name each hamster and customise them with over 100 cosmetic items, so your group can tell their own animals apart at a glance. The game runs in an isometric view with detailed graphics and cute animations in every mode, and it supports controller play. Expect a colorful, family-friendly tone throughout — the rivalry is real, but the presentation stays relaxed.
