A short horror hunt with a family mystery
Hamster Hunter puts you in first person as a student heading home for the annual family reunion. When you arrive, your family is gone and your father has left an eerie note. You search the map for what happened to them, and along the way that search turns into a hate for hamsters and then into a full hunt. The game is a short horror hunting experience with a small story attached, mixing exploration and survival with dark humor and destruction.
Playing together with Online Co-op
The game supports Online Co-op, so you and your friends can take on the hunt together. You explore the open map freely, look for blueprints, and set up your gear across the area. Bait can be used to lure hamsters in, and you can tranquilize them once they are close. Everyone can work on buying and building different contraptions and placing them around the map to catch what they lure.
What to know before you start
Expect a mix of building, crafting, and hunting rather than a long campaign. You can craft meat patties from the hamsters and sell them, and the contraptions you buy include things like guillotines and microwaves. The tone runs from atmospheric and psychological horror to dark comedy, so the violence is played with a grim, arcade edge. The story is short and sits alongside the hunting and building, so most of your time goes into setting up traps, exploring, and pushing the revenge hunt forward.
