A frog on a lily pad with a laser-leaf
Frog Fighters is a third-person arena shooter where you play as a frog riding a flying lily pad. Your main weapon fires laser-leafs, and you spend your time chasing other frogs through the air and shooting them down. It is fast, it is silly, and it does not ask much of you in terms of setup: you pick your loadout and get into a fight. The game is in Early Access, so expect it to still be rough around the edges and changing over time. It is free to play and supports online PvP.
Picking a secondary and a passive
Alongside your main leaf shot, you get one secondary ability, and choosing it changes how you fight. Charged Blast lets you hold the secondary fire key to grow a big leaf ball; the longer you hold it, the more damage it does, so it rewards patience and punishes missed shots. Shotgun sprays a bunch of low-damage leaf pellets with high spread, which shreds anyone right in your face but falls off fast at range. Healing Beam turns you into support: hold secondary fire and anyone on your team in the beam's path gets healed.
Passive abilities are smaller but constant. Armor gives extra protection that can let you walk away from a hit that would otherwise kill you. Speed nudges your max speed up so you can outrun or out-turn opponents. Health Regeneration tops you back up once you have been out of combat for a set time, which favors hit-and-run players who dip out and come back.
Three ways to play with friends
Free For All is every frog for themselves, first to 30 points or the highest score after 5 minutes. Team Death Match splits the frogs into two teams, first team to 100 or highest score after 5 minutes. Last Man Standing is a quick battle-royale style round where the goal is simply to be the last frog in the arena.
For a Discord group, Team Death Match is the obvious pick since it puts you on the same side working toward one score. Free For All works if your group likes turning on each other, and Last Man Standing is a good palate cleanser between longer sessions because rounds stay short.
Before you jump in
Know that this is a flight-based shooter, so aim matters less than movement — staying unpredictable in the air keeps you alive. Since the abilities are tied to the secondary fire key, decide before the match who is healing and who is damage, otherwise your team may end up with three Healing Beams and no firepower. Early Access means balance and features can shift between sessions, so a loadout that works this week may play differently next time.
