What the game is
The Floor Is Still Really Cheap Lava is a small third-person shooter from Congo Jungle Games with a cartoony, colorful look and a comedy streak. It runs as an online multiplayer shooter where only one player walks away the winner, and it also has a story mode that ends with a final boss. Alongside the shooting, there's a runner-style challenge where the goal is to travel as far as you can while staying off the cheap lava. The action, racing and strategy tags all show up in how it plays: you move fast, you shoot, and you pick your moment.
Playing it with friends
You can take the fight online with up to 9 friends, so a full lobby is a proper free-for-all with one survivor at the end. The store text describes it as a more lethal game of Lasertag, with plenty of explosives in the mix to send your friends flying. Custom gamemodes are a big part of the package: you can tweak the game settings yourself or jump into premade modes such as Hot Potato, Hide and Seek, and the Floor is Lava. That means a group can settle on one ruleset and run it back, or hand the settings over to whoever wants to break the game in an interesting way.
Before you start
There are over 100 weapons and gadgets to unlock, so expect a stretch of playing before everything is in your hands. The Steam features list Online PvP, and the tags include Singleplayer, so both the online lobbies and the story mode are on the table. The story mode has a final boss at the end of it, and the lava challenge is a separate way to play where distance is the score. It's tagged as Free To Play, casual and funny, so the tone stays light even when the explosives start going off.
